And here we thought we were making progress

Oh LiLo, it's been too long.

Our old friend/hot tranny mess Lindsay Lohan is back in the news, congratulating Barack Obama on becoming our "first colored President."

Sigh. I guess it's too steps forward, one step back - for all parties involved.

Sometimes there's so much drama in the world, I feel like I can't take it.

This reminds me of my old, racist grandma (God rest her) who used to call African-Americans "coloreds" when she was being politically correct. Usually, she called them the "N-word."

This is the same grandma who once said to me, "I don't understand why girls have to learn math." It's a wonder I'm so well adjusted.

And Liz, you left out your best joke about this from the email chain: "She probably heard someone say 'people of color' and got all confused." You crack me up.

Okay, so I've been debating over whether or not to write about this, because I love to pick on Lindsay Lohan, but I actually don't think it's that big a deal. I think this is another example of everyone being WAAAAY too sensitive.

Obviously, I understand that "colored" has a certain connotation to it, especially in this country, conjuring up images of segregated drinking fountains and such, but I don't think "colored," as archaic as it might be, is meant to be derogatory most of the time. When people use the "N-word," there is malice behind it.

And I mean, if "people of color" is okay, then why isn't "colored?" It's a different way of saying the same thing! If "black" isn't a racist term (although some people think that it is), I'm not sure why "colored" is. Unless it's a technical issue because black is actually the absence of all color, and then I can get behind an anal line of thinking like that.

I don't know, am I wearing rose-colored glasses here, assuming that it wasn't meant to be offensive?

You're probably right Beckeye, and no, I don't think Lindsay was being racist, I think she was just being stupid. We haven't an excuse to mention her a while though, so I went for it.

Haha miss Liz, great minds and all that. I just made fun of her too. I mean it's Lindsay. Who needs an excuse?

At least she didn't say anything really racist, like that he's young, handsome and tanned.
