The Next Big Thing: Us

Liz and I started a band:
Name: Let's Make Out
First Album: Mormon Chaos!
Red on vox, Liz on guitar and awesome indie girl hair, our friend Matty K on percussion and hatin'

We've not actually practiced or anything, but we have been thinking of awesome songs to cover. Our list so far:
"Superstar" by The Carpenters
"Better Man" by Pearl Jam
"Acid Tongue" by Jenny Lewis
"Express Yourself" by Madonna
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by The Band
"With Arms Outstretched" by Rilo Kiley

So, here's where you come in, dear reader. What other awesome songs should we cover? Keep in mind, these songs should a) sound good with only voice, guitar and drums, b) make drunken bar goers sing a-long and/or not throw things at us, and c) be musically easy to learn because, obviously, we're not planning on putting a lot of work into this. Suggest away!

American Pie, everyone knows the words to this one, even when blithering drunk right?

Having grown up punk, I have no idea what songs regular people would sing along to. People like the Beatles and the Who and stuff, right? Maybe all that James Taylor sort of folk rock?

For once, even I'll admit I have no idea on this particular topic.

We do all styles Pistols. I've been thinking a little Janie Jones might work for us.

I think we all know what song I'm gonna recommend: it starts with with a "D" and ends with the name of my website ;-)

May I suggest "Crush On You" by The Jets. Awwww yeaahhhh.

Pistols is totally lying. He prefers the musical "stylings" of Yanni, Sting, and John Tesh.

Pretty much if you could do any(good) 80's song, I would be thrilled!

Wow, a band of girls with the name "Let's Make Out"? I don't see how this can fail...

...unless you listen to people who aren't me.

"Jolene", Dolly Parton

"Kiss Me Deadly", Lita Ford (a quiet, contemplative acoustic rendering. It will blow minds.

Any Johnny Cash song. Dudes will DIG a girl singing that.

The Travis version of "Hit Me Baby One More Time".

Don't cover Pearl Jam. Please? I generally don't like any Pearl Jam covers and I WANT to like you.

I think you should do a hard rockin', extended version of the theme song from "The Facts of Life."

I do love me some Yanni, but mostly his work where he beat his wife, Linda Evans.

Hey-oo!

Also, everyone in bars loves Journey and Bon Jovi. Livin' on a Prayer or most Guitar Hero songs seem a good idea.
