Things I Don't Get: Bacon

I should preface this by saying I'm not a huge meat eater. I'd say 75% of my meals contain no meat whatsoever. However, I don't get the obsession with bacon.

Now, I understand bacon tastes good. I've enjoyed it on many occasions with my eggs in the morning or on a hamburger or a nice BLT, but more often than not, I ask to have the bacon removed from my burger because it's usually limp and tasteless and, well, unnecessary. Recently, a "friend" of mine included Bacon as one of the five (only 5!) things he'd spend tons of cash on were he to win the lotto while filling out that stupid Facebook quiz on the subject. This made me say, "What the hell?!" and possibly "That's a deal breaker, ladies!" Then you add Baconnaise and the Bacon Explosion and I, personally, think things are a bit out of hand.

Is anyone with me on this? Anyone? Or am I just crazy for preferring sausage in the breakfast meats contest of life?

Your tastebuds clearly never graduated from high school, bacon is amazing.

I prefer sausage over bacon unless we are talking about blt's and even then the dominating taste in mine ate the tomatoes. Bacon has it's purposes but given the choice I go with sausage.

I like bacon (The proper English stuff that actually has meat on it, not the shitty Canadian crap that's just lines of fat), but I think the current internet obsession with it is tiresome.

I think it has become the equivalent of people saying they have a clown phobia because they think it makes them interesting.

Bacon is the only meat product I do eat and I don't eat it that often. I love it, however it has to be cooked JUST right (crispy, not too fatty, not too salty) or it's kind of gross.

Bacon is awesome. So awesome in fact, that I used to eat it as a snack in junior high school. And according to John Tesh, four slices of this amazing pork product actually has less fat than 4 sausage links. So... yes. You are crazy.

I think Baconaise is everything that is wrong with this country.

I feel like I don't even know you anymore.

I LOVE bacon. But I mostly like it as an accent to things. Like sometimes I start my tomato sauce by rendering some bacon, or I like a slice on a burger. But with breakfast, I do actually prefer sausage, especially if it's spicy.

And Bacon Salt is amazing. It has no meat product whatsoever, and it makes everything taste bacony. Mmm.

I'm all about my sausage.

Oh sure, bacon's fine, but I'll pretty much do anything for sausage of any kind.

How wrong does that sound on a scale of 1 to 10?

I actually don't care for the crispy streaky bacon Americans seem to prefer... I like Canadian style thick meaty bacon, and I cut most of the fat off usually.

So I can understand.

Although I'm down with sausage, there is nothing like bacon! When I worked at Hardee's eons ago, I could eat slice after slice. Getting it hot off the grill was the best!
