The warm British fuzzies. Really!

Our readers tend to know a lot about both Britain and televised singing contests of any kind, so you might have already seen this, but here is some heartwarming news which involves, of all people, Simon Cowell.

This woman, Susan Boyle went on Britain's new Perform-and-be-Judged reality show, Britain's Got Talent. It's like American Idol, without the age limits, and groups and stuff can perform as well. (I think they tried an American version of this at some point).

Anyway, Susan Boyle goes out there, and she's 47 years old, kind of dumpy looking with frazzled hair and thick eyebrows, and she tells the hosts beforehand that she lives alone with her cat and has never even been kissed. Everyone is expecting her to be a delusional disaster who won't be heard from again unless she starts stalking Paula Abdul.

And everyone is wrong. She brings the house down. From the first verse of the show tune she sings (Red would know more about that than me) the audience is just floored. And then the judges tell her she's great and she cries and those of us watching the clip get all verklemmt unless we don't have souls, which maybe you don't but watch this clip to find out.

The end.

My mom showed me this the minute I walked in the door and, yes, I cried. Brilliant, as they say over there!

And I'm pretty sure America's Got Talent is still on here. At least it was fairly recently.

Normally I'm pretty cynical and crass, so...

...eff you for bringing tears to my eyes.

*sniff*

That was magnificent.

Normally not a fan of musicals but her rendition of that song just shows how singing can take the listener to a different place.

I want to give this woman a makeover and introduce her to my uncle. She was bloody fantastic!!! (And if we're revealing mushy stuff, I did in fact shed a tear. You're the last person I'd expect to make me do that, Lizard!)

I'll be the first to admit that I am apparently without a soul. Although I think I might have seen something resembling a genuine emotion from Simon!

Also, I don't know who those two asshats in the wings are, but I think they played two asshats interviewing Bill Nighy on a music show in Love, Actually.

Poo sent me over here and I'm sooo glad her did ~ that was amazing!! Of course, now I get to start my day off crying like a baby here... but in a very good way. ;-)

And to Words Words Words: Yessiree, those guys were in Love Actually. I recognize them too.

I was totally expecting her to sing How Are Things In Glocca Mora? or as I like to call it Are There Chips and Gucamole?

I just saw this on another blog post today and it was worth watching twice. I love seeing the underdog win. It reminded me of Paul Potts.

Hey "Liz" just a note to tell you that you TOTALLY scooped Anderson Cooper on this story . . . you had it by Monday . . . AC360 didnt cover it until Tuesday and whats better, it didnt hit AJ's Playhouse on chanel 93.3 until Wendsday!

My goodness you are a keen reporter - keep up the good work.
