Nobody's Fool

We rarely post on the weekends, but today, something must be said. Paul Newman, one of the greatest actors ever, has died. This makes me very sad. I loved him first in The Color of Money, when he schooled a young Tom Cruise in the ways of pool hustling, but I really fell in love with him when I saw Cool Hand Luke. Good lord, was he gorgeous. He was also a do-gooder, creating a line of foods and beverages with all after-tax profits going to charity. Seems like a pretty swell guy and he will be missed.

And the title of this post - Nobody's Fool - is testament to the man's otherworldly abilities. He took a role in what should have been a Lifetime-Movie-of-the-Week and managed an Oscar nomination... effortlessly.

He was, hands down, The Best.

His lemonade is the shit.

It was a huge surprise, too, since he'd been looking so fit...oh, wait, no.

Still, he's like Geoffrey Rush or John Turturro to me - I've seen him in some bad movies, but I've never seen him be bad in a movie.

I should've checked here before going into my lists of Paul Newman films... but here's a little bit of trivia I didn't tell you already...

Paul Newman was the visual inspiration for the Green Lantern

He was on Richard Nixon's enemies list.

Famed acting instructor Lee Strasberg said Paul Newman (one of his students) would have been as great an actor as Marlon Brando if he wasn't so good looking.
