R.I.P. Tim Russert.

When I’m not blogging, I work in the media business. It's a mighty maligned business, often (OK, usually) rightfully so. But one guy you could always look to if you wanted some faith in the press was Tim Russert.

Tim Russert grilled everyone who came on Meet the Press equally, no matter what party they were from. But more importantly, he grilled them with fact-based questions and did it without being a total d*ckhead, something most journalist/TV show hosts can’t seem to figure out.

I'm a big news junkie, so this probably hit me harder than most people. When I heard the news, it felt like someone punched me in the gut. But I really think he's going to be missed, especially this election year. Hopefully some of his colleagues and competitors can take something from his example in their coverage.

I'm a huge news junkie, and his coverage of this election so far was outstanding. The one thing I really liked about the guy was that you could tell he genuinely *loved* what he was doing. He couldn't hide that smile of his when something particularly exciting was happening. He was a good guy. Too bad his passing was so sudden and unexpected. I feel for his family and friends. R.I.P. Tim!

I found this very sad, too, and I'm not a big TV news person. He will be missed.

Yeah, this is a bummer. He seemed like a good guy.

I'm sure all the DC folks will be similarly bummed, because these are our celebrities. I'd have preferred, say, Pat Buchanan dropping dead, but since women are still wearing shirts, it's pretty clear I'm not running the universe.

Agree with Pistols. He was one of the few "pillars" left. Once the last few go, what will be left?
