Guest Blogger: Nooch on the End of the Writers Strike

Frequent GitW commenter Nooch is probably the most television-obsessed person I know. (And considering I know Red, that's saying something). So I thought I'd share with you her thoughts on the end of the Writers Strike.

101 days... that's how long this damn strike lasted. Holy crap I didn't think I would be able to make it. I am not going to lie, there were some nights that I just didn't know if I would survive, but I worked through the pain, the cold sweats, and reality tv, and can officially say I am a survivor of the WGA Strike!

Although it was nice to not have to plan my life around what shows were on the small screen, I did feel empty inside. At first, it was just the shakes, but it slowly got worse (loss of appetite, lack of sleep, etc etc). I went to my doctor, but all she could do was prescribe me was a subscription to Netflix. Luckily, I know a guy, who knows a guy, who could give me more of a fix. He was able to hook me up with dvd's of Girlmore Girls, The Office, 30 Rock, and the mac daddy of them all, Veronica Mars. Honestly, my dealer was able to provide me endless hours of dvd entertainment which I can now cherish for years to come. I am pretty sure I was his #1 customer. (Dealer goes by the name Amazon if you ever need a fix, go to his website).

Now although this strike was painful, it was also worth it. I am happy that an agreement had been made, and one that the WGA found to be reasonable. None of them wanted to be out of work, but they had faith and believed in what they were doing.

So welcome back primetime television. We missed you.
