This weekend I saw 27 Dresses (don't ask. It was free and I didn't pick it). It was actually better than expected (though still, completely predictable and generic), but the thing that struck me most was how charming James Marsden is in it. He's adorable and funny and has great chemistry with Katherine Heigl (who, I must admit, I like in these Rom-Coms. Am I just getting old and soft?). He was also one of my favorite things about the new version of Hairspray, and I got to wondering, why has he become the next Bill Pullman rather than a genuine, Hugh Grant type romantic leading man? Can anyone explain this to me? Please?

Why Isn't James Marsden a Bigger Star?

Speaking of Bill Pullman, Spaceballs was on TV this weekend so of course I watched it. So as for James, may the Schwartz be with him!
Spaceballs! Total classic!
Aww man, Spaceballs! I'm so old that I saw that in the theatre!
And Robocop. Double-header.
But I dunno who James Marsden is...forgive me?
As a man, I have no idea who this gentleman is. As long as he has to fight against my utter indifference, he's got an uphill battle to stardom.
My point exactly! he's been in everything from the X-Men movies to Superman Returns and no one knows who he is. Poor James...
And I saw Spaceballs in the theater, too, so you're not THAT old!
Yeah, I don't really know him either. Poor James. I think we should all send him some fan letters to cheer him up.
Interesting - I never liked James Marsden because I thought he was "too pretty" or whatever. Then I saw him in "Hairspray" and he completely won me over. Now I think he's "pretty hot." I still haven't seen that dress movie though. I've been in 9 weddings, so I'm familiar with that little corner of hell.
And I saw Spaceballs in the theater, too, so you're not THAT old!
Either I'm not THAT old ALSO then, or you're REALLY old yourself, Red!
And my knees are aching 'cause of the weather, so....
...so, y'know - don't kill me.
No. You're old, just not THAT old :)
And there's a lot of talk about killing today. Do you need a massage or something?
Yes please.
I'm all grumpy because of my alzheimers.
A back rub would go a long way towards soothing my inner beast.
Note to self: THAT was an easy way to get a back rub! Just mention the word 'kill' a few times! Wonder what a guy's gotta do around here for a head-scratching?
I'll see what we can do about that...
